Tickled Ivories began in 1993 in San Antonio, Texas. Since then the program has experienced steady growth and has been established as a premier ancillary program in San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, Texas, Denver, Colorado and Atlanta, Georgia.

We teach hands-on piano to children ages three and older and guitar to children ages five and older in small peer groups. Our teacher/student ratio is lowest among most other enhancement programs with a 3-student maximum class limit. This format ensures an optimal learning environment. Electronic keyboards and acoustic guitars are brought to class. No instrument at home is required to begin lessons (though an instrument at home can encourage the development of skills and abilities). Purchasing a guitar is a great idea for in-class and at-home practice. The Tickled Ivories guitar teacher will be happy to assist in you with the selecting an appropriate instrument.

We believe that children naturally respond to music. Instruction specifically provides children opportunities to develop physical coordination, timing, and memory, visual, auditory, and mathematical skills. As children work to increase their proficiency, they become skilled in self-paced learning, mental concentration, and increased self-confidence. These acquired skills can prove to be invaluable in setting children on a life path that will ultimately lead them to success in whatever field they choose.


We strive to make learning to play the piano or guitar a fun and rewarding experience for all children. Each Tickled Ivories' instructor is trained in the Tickled Ivories' curriculum and approach to piano or guitar instruction. Each instructor has completed their own exhaustive piano or guitar training & education either in a private studio or classroom. Instructors either have a college degree or are working towards their degree. All instructors have hands-on experience working with young children and understand children’s developmental stages of learning. To ensure your child's safety and protection and in compliance with state law, all instructors undergo a criminal history check and FBI fingerprinting analysis, possess (child) First Aid and CPR certification.
