Our History

Tickled Ivories began in 1993 in San Antonio. Since 1993 the program has experienced rapid growth and has been established as a premier extracurricular program in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Midland/Odessa and Atlanta, Georgia.

Our main goal is to teach hands-on piano to children ages three and older in small peer groups. Our teacher/student ratio is lowest among most other enhancement programs with our 3 - 4 student per class limit guaranteeing your child the proper attention he or she needs. Electronic keyboards are brought to class. No instrument at home is required to begin lessons (though a practicing instrument at home can encourage the development of skills and abilities).

We believe that children naturally respond to music. Piano instruction specifically provides children opportunities to develop physical coordination, timing, memory, visual, auditory, and mathematical skills. As children work to increase their proficiency, they become skilled in self-paced learning, mental concentration, and increased self-confidence. These life long skills can prove to be invaluable in setting children on a life path that will ultimately lead them to success in whatever field they choose.

We strive to make learning to play the piano a fun and rewarding experience for all children. Each Tickled Ivories' instructor is trained in the exact Tickled Ivories' curriculum. Our instructors also attend annual education training and have ongoing support. Instructors undergo a criminal history check and also obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
